This is step-by-step tutorial for newcomers to mint their first tBTC. Also Keep Network announced a program of rewards for minting tBTC. Every 1 tBTC will be exchanged for 200 KEEP. The total pool of rewards is 250,000 KEEP. Learn more about this in the Discord.

For this program you will need:

  1. Browser Google Chrome
  2. Wallet MetaMask
  3. 10–15 minutes

STEP 1: Get a Metamask Ethereum Address and some ropsten testnet ETH

Go to Metamask.io and download the Metamask browser extension and create your first Ethereum address.

Once you have your address just copy it for the next step. Remember to switch to Ropsten Testnet!

Then go to this Ropsten testnet Faucet and ask for Ropsten test ETH.

STEP 2: Setup a Bitcoin wallet and ask for testnet BTC

Go to https://block.io/ and register an account. Enter confirmation code from email. Enter and remember your PIN and Mnemonic. Choose Bitcoin in Testnet’s. Here you will see your testnet Bitcoin wallet address.

You can get the testnet BTC in the following faucets:

https://tbtc.bitaps.com/ (0,01 BTC every 5 minutes)

https://testnet-faucet.mempool.co/ (0,01 BTC/hour)

STEP 3: Start minting tBTC

Open https://dapp.test.tbtc.network/ site. Then connect your Ropsten Metamask Address.

After correct connection with your Metamask Ropsten address you will see a green Connected display. Now click “Begin now”.

You need to confirm two MetaMask transactions to Initiate a deposit. If all is done right, site will generate you a BTC wallet address for making a deposit.

Get back to block.io and choose send button on your wallet. Fill out the fields with generated on tBtc website wallet address, amount and your PIN, click to send. This may take a while. Wait once your deposit will be confirmed.

Once Keep detects the transaction, you will be asked to sign 2 Metamask transactions. The dapp screen will look like this (step 4/5).

When all is done you will get “Complete” message with the TDT ID info.

Open MetaMask and click menu to view your wallet on Etherscan — you will see your first minted tBTC token.
